About the White Field Border Plant

The white field border (LUZULA luzuloides, synonym: LUZULA nemorosa) is a plant that belongs to the Russians family (Juncaceae). The plant is native to Central and Southeast Europe and from there spread also over Europe.


The plant is 30-75 cm high and is creeping rhizomes. The light green, shiny leaves are roots 3-6 mm wide and as long as the stem leaves.


The white trim field blooms in May and June with whitish flowers, together with two to eight are on the tuilvormige inflorescence. The cover is longer than the inflorescence.


The fruit is a capsule with a short beak. The seeds are 1 mm long and have a very small ants sandwich, making it spread by ants.


The plant is found in deciduous forests on moist, acidic, loamy soil.
